Teaching

While I do not currently conduct assessments I can advise on where & who to go to.
Another area of my expertise is in visual anomalies which may contribute to/exacerbate cognitive processing and learning.  I am able to offer a simple visual screening to evaluate whether there may be issues which could benefit from referral to a Behavioural Optometrist for a full assessment. If you have concerns about visual skills please do let me know as I can refer you to appropriate practitioners.

I worked within this field for 8 years as a Vision Therapist.

I now provide support which is tailored to the needs of the student; making use of games to revise/consolidate spelling rules.  I have been working in this field for 20+ years.

Teaching sessions can be 45 or 60 minutes in duration.

 I teach Mondays - Thursday inclusive. Lessons on Saturday are by arrangement only.

CogMed

This is an internet based programme developed to improve working memory. Currently it is the
only intervention we have to offer. A course of training takes 25 days - depending on age the sessions can vary from 15 - 40 minutes per day.  After completion of the training there is the option to purchase a maintenance which allows access for 15 minute 'top-ups' as required.. It is a sensitive programme which responds to the progress the individual makes, but will always seek to help you improve.
